Forget goals do this instead…

Back when I used to play basketball, at

the beginning of a season I would always

set a goal for my stats that year.


20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks.


Oddly enough each time I did this I would

usually fall just under those numbers.


I’d average 19.7 points, 7 rebounds, and 2

blocks instead.


Until I got to college.


College was the first time I was put under

a strict practicing regimen. It was called

our 300-100.


Everyday we had to shoot at least 300

jumpers from various spots on the floor.

As well as 100 free throws.


This was my daily routine. Fast forward a

few years and I had been excluded from

playing as a result of loosing credits

because of a school transfer. (Damn

NCAA rules)


Regardless I stayed consistent with this

newly acquired practice routine and even

added in a few ball handling drills I’d

learned from the lead point guard.


As a result, while playing intramurals that

year my skills had jumped so much I was

averaging 34 points per game while the

closest person to those numbers

averaged only 21.


The key was in my routines, not my goals.

That’s when it dawned on me that the

missing link between most people’s goals

dreams and aspirations lie in their daily

routines or the lack there of.


So if you want to do it big in life focus on

your daily routines.
